An introduction to Scouting
Hi I'm a SPL (senior patrol leader) in the 108th Belfast Scout Troop. In Scouts we do many activities and go camping at least once a year. We do activities like chip surveys, console nights and bring a friend nights. We also do all the normal scout activities like working for badges, tying knots, learning to put up tents, light camp fires and many other skills. Badges can be earned for many different hobbies and you just need to ask a leader if something interests you. In the Scouts we have different patrols with different names e.g. Cheetah patrol. In each patrol there is one patrol leader (PL), one assistant patrol leader (APL) and at least one scout. Everybody starts off as a Scout and works their way up to an APL and then a PL. If the PL is off sick, then the APL takes his place for the night. Beavers and Cubs are run at St Brigids on Monday nights.
